  • College English teaching is confronted with a great challenge and a new opportunity with the issue of College English Curriculum Requirements by the Ministry of Education in 2007. To answer it, college English teaching is undergoing a further reform. Cooperative learning (CL), as a set of successful instruc-tional strategies, with its considerable advantages ranging from motivating students’ learning interests and interaction to improving their language competence and skills, is undoubtedly a most beneficial attempt. The paper will discuss its major approaches and instruments, stressing the key step of implementing CL in Eng-lish Teaching.
